Insurance, Road Tax and an MOT

Add News

It is important to remember that any car parked or driven on the highway must be insured, taxed and if the vehicle is three years old or more, covered by  a valid MOT certificate.

It is currently estimated that there are many thousands of vehicles being driven by uninsured drivers nationally and because a vehicles road tax cannot be renewed unless the vehicle is insured, it also means that the vehicle, in most cases, will not be displaying a legally issued tax disc. There would also be questions asked about a valid MOT certificate.

With the police now using Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems, you are advised to meet the legal requirements associated with using any vehicle on the public highway. Also remember that parking an untaxed vehicle on the highway is an offence and carries a fine in excess of the 12 month road tax cost. The truth of the matter is that if everyone paid their legal dues regarding tax and insurance there is every possibility that prices for these items would fall and the majority of vehicle owners would benefit.
