Birmingham Airport provides Birmingham flights or flights Birmingham to and from a large number of both United Kingdom and European cities and holiday destinations; this assumes of course that the Birmingham flight patterns, either flights to Birmingham or flights from Birmingham, have not been disrupted by the re-appearance of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud which was first experienced in the United Kingdom during the year of 2010. This resulted in most UK & European airports being brought to a standstill, with the majority of airlines loosing many hundreds of thousands of pounds, air passengers stranded throughout the world and both travel and insurance companies also suffering financially through what can only be considered to be an “Act of God”. Similar experiences became evident in the latter part of May 2011. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come and the redesign of engine filtration systems to remove any possibilities of engine malfunction associated with planes passing through the ash cloud.

Passengers are always pre-advised with regards to check in times which are indicated below.
- International flights - check in 3 hours prior to departure
- European flights - check in 2 hours prior to departure
- Domestic flights - check in 90 minutes prior to departure
· Departure Lounges are on the first floor.
A word of warning, don’t be late for the check in and/or aircraft boarding or you may be disappointed if your booked Birmingham flight leaves with you still in the departure lounge; no doubt arguing your case as to why they didn’t delay the flight on your behalf. A number of passengers worldwide have had this experience, but is assumed only once!!!!
A number of us at Activ Birmingham have been using flights from Birmingham for many years and apart from the one experience of fire alarms being triggered and the arrivals/departure areas evacuated, when at the time we were only a short distance from the check in desk and on our return found ourselves way back in the queue, we have never experienced any problems in either the departure or arrival arenas.
For Birmingham flight departure passengers there are, like most airports, two means for boarding your flight, one is via bus transport, followed by a short walk and stepped access and the other by a totally covered, walk straight on facility. If you are unsure of your access method, take a brolly because you may find yourself boarding in extremely wet weather. Although we at Activ have never experienced such boarding conditions it must be very uncomfortable sitting on a flight and being soaking wet. However, it maybe that the airline provide umbrellas, we are not sure.
Whether you are using Birmingham flights for business or pleasure, we at Activ Birmingham would wish you a safe and pleasant journey and for holiday makers travelling an envious journey into paradise.
