Thousands of people will visit and enjoy New Years Eve in Birmingham either on the day itself, holidays and breaks over Christmas and the New Year period, or simply for a few days holiday break. For those living close or near to Birmingham there are the usual travel facilities available in the shape of buses, taxis & private hire, metro and train with New Street and Snow Hill railway stations being just a short distance from the main central area of activities. For those travelling from farther afield there is also motorway and aircraft transportation readily available.

In saying that, what does the city have on offer for all its expected visitors?

Without doubt it is fair to say that a city the size of Birmingham can provide New Year revellers with virtually anything or everything that they are looking for, assuming of course that it is legal.

For those looking for accommodation, Birmingham can offer hotels to suit all pockets, from cheap too expensive or your own previously used favourite hotel. For those taking accommodation without meals there are numerous restaurants, cafes, clubs, and pubs, bars & inns offering whatever food requirements one seeks.

The city council also indulges visitors with a short New Years Eve fireworks display from Centenary Square, which normally commences a few minutes before midnight on the 31 December and ends a few minutes later on 1 Jan of the latest New Year. It is assumed that 2011 into 2012, even with all the economic cut backs, will be no different to that seen during the 2010 New Years Eve.

Birmingham's best locations for public gatherings include Centenary Square, Chamberlin Square and Victoria Square all located in the central city area.

You will find numerous venues and places offering Gala Dinners, parties, discos, dancing and entertainment to welcome in the New Year. You may have previously experienced a Birmingham New Year and have a previous party, disco or dinner in mind.

With the likes of the Hippodrome, Alexandra Theatre, LG Arena, International Convention Centre, National Exhibition Centre, 02 Academy, Birmingham Symphony Hall etc. being at your disposal you will find a choice of shows, events, or simply an event to meet all tastes.

In Birmingham one will never be short of things to do, visit and see.

One of the main Birmingham visitor places for any form of celebration has to be Broad Street, which is just a short distance away from Centenary Square and its midnight New Years firework celebrations. Broad Street, without doubt the busiest and most popular nightspot area, offers virtually everything for a great evening out in the shape of bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants, most of which will offer, apart from alcohol, parties, entertainment, amusement, fun and food a plenty.

Broad Street is also home to the Symphony Hall, Repertory Theatre, the ICC, plus the famous Mathew Boulton, William Murdoch and James Watt bronze gilded statue and the well known Birmingham Walk of Stars, see if you can find them in the slabbed footway below. It is recommended that you begin your search before the night takes over.

Information on exactly what Birmingham has to offer on the 31 December can easily be found on the internet. One word of warning, a lot of people will be searching the web for the same hotel, restaurant, evening's entertainment etc. If you want to be there make sure that you book well in advance or you may miss out.

Whatever you decide to do during you celebration activities, have a very enjoyable New Years Eve bash, but do be careful, be cautious and most of all please be very safe.
