If you are looking for a new job, look at the various jobs on offer with Activ Birmingham.

There are also other areas to consider in your search. Look at the various job adverts in both your local and national newspapers. Check which day job adverts appear as this will normally be the same day each week for you to look at what’s on offer.  You can also look out for adverts from new companies and businesses moving to your area and make a job application in advance of any such vacancies appearing. Companies and businesses may look favourably at such initiative; it may also save them money in advertising space.

Consider joining a Recruitment Agency. These work closely with employers looking for staff and depending on what your CV indicates, can match you to a job. Again make sure your CV is honest and accurate. If you are offered advice on ways to improve your CV always remember that they are the experts in the recruitment field and listen carefully to their advice.

Your local Job Centre is another area to consider.

Jobcentre Plus has probably the largest data base of job vacancies and these can easily be searched on line and is yet another area to consider.

 Some organisations look for their employees to recommend a friend, have you considered the possibility of this option.

If after this you are still finding it difficult to find the job you are seeking, give consideration to alternative types of employment.

One example of an alternative job is the true story of a gentleman who was operating as a general clerk, prior to employment legislation etc., and was eventually hounded out of his job as he was considered incompetent by his then highly respected Senior Manager. The man eventually found employment with a life insurance company who, following an interview could obviously see with correct training a future potential. The individual concerned then went on to sell over a million pounds worth of life insurance and was well rewarded financially by his company to the point that he could easily have bought out the manager who had deemed him incompetent and still had plenty of money left.  He also won numerous awards and was judged to be one of the best life insurance salesmen nationally.  His change of fortune rested entirely with his previous manager who judged him, at the time, to be incompetent. The significance of this story is that if at first you don’t succeed in your job search, consider an alternative. But please don’t give up, who knows what’s just around the corner.
