Do Homes Really Need to be of Bricks and Mortar?

Add News

In recent years a number of the retired generation have sold their properties and chosen a totally different type of home and lifestyle, such as a narrow boat, motorhome, large static caravans, or even a parkland home made of either wood or log. In the case of narrow boats, even some of the younger generation have opted for this way of life. There are types and sizes at costs to suit the majority of tastes and pockets, like anything else, however, you get what you pay for.

Whilst this type of home is, obviously, not to everyone’s choice, discussions with those opting for such a move have indicated that the  majority have found it very much to their liking.

Obviously, such a decision can only be viewed as a major one and needs to be carefully considered. The majority who have chosen such a move spent time investigating its true potential by actually hiring a narrow boat, motor home or log/wood cabin to identify the positives and negatives of such a venture. It is important to remember that some parkland homes can only be habited for eleven months of the year, however, with no council tax to be found, as the eleven months only stay, apparently means they are exempt from such a tax, many decide to spend the twelfth month in warmer climates abroad.

In this day and age, the internal facilities of such homes can only be described as excellent and in most cases include double glazing, central heating and all the other necessities associated with a bricks and mortar home.

The exchange of a standard UK home to any one of the above, will normally leave families who fully owned their property with extra finance for investment purposes or otherwise. Anyone contemplating such a move would be well advised to investigate all there is to know about estimated  annual expenditure, including maintenance, site and mooring fees and with parkland homes the annual site rent and in the case of both static caravans and parkland homes, most sites have rules regarding their age for replacement. It is not all plain sailing but well worthy of consideration. Activ Birmingham would advise anyone considering such a move to talk to those living such a life, seek their advice and then make your decision on whether it’s for you or otherwise. On the business pages of Activ Birmingham you will find companies who deal with the manufacture and/or sale of the majority of the aforementioned home types.
